Evidence

Evidence and proof in psychology is the data that is gathered from a study. This evidence is used to either prove or disprove a hypothesis. Data can be expressed in many ways, and in psychology, it is often shown by the use of a bar graph that represents the performance of subjects in experiments. Below is a bar graph representing evidence (data) gathered by J. Michael Bowers,  Kristopher I. Bradley, and Shelia M. Kennison. The data was published in an article titled “Hemispheric Differences in the Processing of Words Learned Early Versus Later in Childhood”.  The evidence shown in the graph supports their hypothesis that early AoA words (words learned early in childhood) would be represented in the right hemisphere, and late AoA words (words learned later in life) would be represented in the left hemisphere.
